The IOC approved several exciting new additions including cricket, flag football, lacrosse, and squash. Baseball and softball will also return to the Olympic program. Long-standing fan favorites such as gymnastics, swimming, athletics (track and field), and basketball will remain central to the Games.
Venues Across Los Angeles

Key venues include the LA Memorial Coliseum for athletics, SoFi Stadium for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Dodger Stadium for baseball, the Intuit Dome for basketball, and the Riviera Country Club for golf. Preliminary soccer matches will be held in New York, Columbus, St. Louis, Nashville, San Jose, and San Diego.
Sustainability and Innovation
A defining feature of the LA28 Games is the commitment to use 100 percent existing and temporary venues, minimizing new construction and environmental impact. Google will serve as a primary technology partner, integrating AI tools throughout the athlete and spectator experience. The Games aim to be the first energy-positive Olympics, generating more renewable energy than consumed during the event.
Accessibility at LA28
Full ADA compliance is a foundational requirement for all LA28 venues and operations. The city's Games Accessibility Plan sets detailed standards for accessible seating, transportation, communications, and services for visitors and athletes with disabilities. ADA 2028 is central to the LA28 vision of hosting Games that are truly welcoming to all participants and spectators.
